Amara (joint with African-American Studies) graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2017 with a B.A. in Gender Studies, summa cum laude. Her work focuses on the intersection of black feminist theory, labor, feeling, and sexuality, as revealed in black visual/sonic cultures. She is especially concerned with the affective and material entanglements of black women’s performance practices and the predicaments of working life under late capitalism.
