Yunzhu Pan is a first-year PhD student in the Department of American Studies. They hold a BA in History and Anthropology from Tufts University.  
 
They study histories of imperialism, labor immigration, and the emergence of ‘industrial relations’ as a school of disciplinary knowledge along the Anglo-Pacific colonial world. Their research focuses on turn-of-the-century discourses mapped by Fabian statesmen and social scientists about typologies of Chinese contract labor in Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia. Previously, they worked as an archives technician in Boston, Massachusetts.
