Yale’s Hazel Carby retires, leaving legacy of mentorship and scholarship

Hazel V. Carby retired at the end of spring 2019 term, capping a 30-year career as a scholar and mentor to her students at Yale University.  Yale News paid tribute to Professor Carby In honor of her distinguished career as a world-renown feminist and black studies scholar and for the signal contributions she made in establishing and developing the African American Studies Department at Yale.
Hazel V. Carby is the Charles C. & Dorathea S. Dilley Professor Emerita of African American Studies & American Studies.
