Carolee Klimchock’s work focuses on  nineteenth-century performance cultures. Her dissertation looks at the world of coach drivers and the culture of coach driving in the Gilded Age and the intersections of race, class, and gender that emerged in public scandals about them. She holds a B.A. from Smith College and a Master’s from The College of William and Mary.
