Iliana Yamileth Rodriguez (Yami) graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in International Affairs and Latin American & Caribbean Studies. Her research explores Latinx community formations through questions about migration, labor, and culture across the U.S. South. Her dissertation, “Constructing Mexican Atlanta,” examines the history and migrant place-making practices within Metro Atlanta’s Mexican community beginning in the late 1970s. For the 2019-2020 academic year, Yami will be an in-residence pre-doctoral fellow at Emory University’s James Weldon Johnson Institute for the Study of Race and Difference
