Randa Tawil is a PhD candidate in American Studies and holds a certificate in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Broadly, she is interested in the intersections of race, gender, migration and empire in the United States. She is currently researching and writing her dissertation on the routes of migration from Syria to the Americas in the first half of the 20th century, and the gendered and racial formations linked with Middle Eastern mobilities. She received her BA in American Studies from Wesleyan University, and has previously worked as an ethnographic consultant in Copenhagen.
