Carolyn Jacobs joined the departments of American Studies and Film and Media Studies in 2015. Carolyn graduated summa cum laude from Connecticut College, where she majored in Film Studies and minored in French. In 2015, Carolyn completed a Master’s degree in Film Studies at Columbia University. Her Master’s thesis looked at the use of film in “Americanization” programs during the 1920s. Carolyn is especially interested in visual culture and pedagogy, sound and image studies, and feminist theory. While at Columbia, Carolyn worked as a research fellow on the Women Film Pioneers Project and as a curriculum designer for the nonprofit React to Film.
