Tyler Rogers is a Ph.D. candidate in American Studies, and is also pursuing the certificate in Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies. He received a B.A. magna cum laude in Ethnic Studies and Gender & Sexuality Studies from Brown University, where he was a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow. Broadly, Tyler’s scholarship explores the relationship between slavery and settler colonialism in early colonial America, with an emphasis on questions of indigeneity, gender, and archival production. His dissertation project considers the enslavement of indigenous people in settler colonial New England, with a focus on how and why particular stories of slavery emerge in documentary records.
