Ila Tyagi is a Ph.D. candidate in American Studies and Film and Media Studies at Yale University. Her research focuses on the American oil industry in moving images. She has written for Senses of Cinema, World Film Locations: Prague and Boston, and Oxford Bibliographies. Ila received an A.B. in Literatures and Cultures in English from Brown University in 2009, and completed an M.A. in American Studies at Columbia University in 2013. She won the Diana Cox Award for Images of Women at the Southwest/Texas Popular and American Culture Association Conference in February 2012, and the Pat Anderson Prize in Film Reviewing at Columbia University in January 2012. Ila worked in renewable energy public relations prior to graduate school.
